Open to all Carmel High School students. No prior Science Bowl experience required.
Carmel Science Bowl is a competitive academic team that prepares throughout the school year for two main events: the Indiana Regional Science Bowl in February and, for the A team, the National Science Bowl in late April.
We field three teams — A, B, and C — selected through a fall tryout process. All three compete at Regionals; the A team also travels to MIT Science Bowl (TBD) in November and Nationals in Washington, D.C. in the spring.

"Tryouts are the season, not a day." From late August through late fall, every weekly meeting is part of tryouts. You rotate through buzzer sets and a guided reading-and-lecture block, work in a small squad with a captain, and build toward the one or two subjects you want to own.
We look at the whole picture — written work, buzzing, the questions you contribute, and showing up consistently — so no single moment makes or breaks you. New students are eligible for the B and C teams from day one; the A team comes together from sustained work across the fall. All three teams compete at the Indiana Regional in February.
We run reading groups through the standard college texts and keep a lending library, so you don't need to buy anything.
